My heart hurts.
A friend wrote me this in an encouragement note recently:
“Since you shared about ____, I thought this C.S. Lewis quote could serve as an encouragement:
God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other. That is why it is just no good asking God to make us happy in our own way without bothering about religion. God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there.
You might have read it before already, but. Oh wells. It’s a good quote! I pray that you’ll be a V1,000,000,000 engine, burning with God’s unending power lent to you.”
Such perfect encouragement at this time of feeling overwhelmed and blinded in the surrealness of being a recent college grad. I need remember to run on Him, and Him alone. No time to waste trying to replenish myself on anything else when I already know the traps, addictions, and consequences. No time to slow down either, except to refuel, of course.
Praise God for amazing brothers and sisters. I pray that I never take any of you for granted.
